Welcome Home Chris!!

In the last 15 months that I've lived at Fort Lewis, this is my third homecoming I've photographed. This homecoming wasn't just any homecoming though... it was a homecoming for one of my really good friends (Sofia) husband! I can photograph homecomings for the rest of my life because the emotion is so extraordinary - but when you photograph such an amazing event for someone you are close with, it takes an extra toll on you. I'm sure I'm not the only photographer to admit that I cry behind the lens ;) Hehe!

The waiting game is always the worst but Sofia and her two boys rocked it! They waited about 4 hours just for the plane to land! But the smile on their faces never faded!

I'm not sure how it is on other military bases but at any homecoming here at JBLM, they broadcast a live feed of the plane flying in! They also video tape every soldier walking off of the plane into the building where they have to in process... so let's see some of those reactions...

Then after their plane lands and they watch their soldier walk off & into the in-processing building, it's more waiting.... but this only means they're one step closer to being with their loved one!!!

After waiting (what seemed like forever) 45 minutes, the announcement was made that the bus has arrived at the gym and the soldiers are standing right out side and are ready to come in!!

...and here they come!!!!!!!!!!!

Then it's that first moment that she lay eyes on him... INDESCRIBABLE.

It's like you fall in love - all over again...

It's such an extraordinary feeling to lay eyes on your loved one after months of being apart... but what's even more amazing are those first hugs, kisses, and smiles face-to-face...

Months spent apart, weeks spent missing,  days spent wondering, minutes spent worrying... but that's all in the past because they're together at last!!!

I just want to quickly say THANK YOU to:
Chris - for serving our country and making sacrifices daily to protect not only your family but your entire country.
Sofia - for staying strong, for being supportive, and for holding the house down while he was away. If it wasn't for your continued love and support, our soldiers wouldn't be half as strong as they are today!

This is one of the most beautiful, genuine, and loving families I've ever met. I am truly HONORED that I got to capture this moment for you and freeze the emotions that were exchanged on this day so you all can cherish them for the rest of your lives. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!
WELCOME HOME CHRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And May God Bless Our Troops for those who still remain overseas. Your daily sacrifices truly mean everything to me and the billions of other citizens in this country!!

I hope you all were able to feel the emotions though these photos! A homecoming is truly one of those things I will NEVER get sick of photographing! I hope every one of you has an amazing day!!!
